  • For those who don’t know: Edmonton is where the military prison is. Referred to as “Club Ed” by members and is known to be a living hell designed specifically to break you through non-stop work and makes regular civilian prison look like a vacation. You have to be an absolute piece of shit like these guys to end up in that correctional facility. They are guaranteed to not be the same when they get out of there.

The CAF doesn’t mess around with people like these so if you think they are representative of the CAF as a whole you are wrong.

  • You might have to wait if what you have is a non life threatening condition as people who have a life-threatening condition will take priority over you no matter who you are. It is the trade-off for a more cost effective system. But after you’ve received your treatment you leave the hospital without even seeing a bill except maybe for a parking fee.

Meanwhile in the US, unless you are wealthy enough to afford to pay for your own healthcare or at least a premium health insurance you are left to wait with life threatening conditions and might even be left to die by your insurance company who will purposefully delay until your death to maximize their profits. And then they’ll still send you an eye-watering bill on top of having charged you a premium that is twice what Canadians pay in their taxes for their healthcare.

  • Soju.

It is a little bit like vodka. It is served ice cold, tastes like mildly sweet water and comes in a beer-style bottle so people who don’t know what it is drink way too much of it too fast and then get hit like a hammer. The bottles are meant to be poured into shot glasses and shared. It has 20-25% alcohol content and some drinks are sold premixed with a juice flavor like the example in the picture.

It is extremely cheap too in South Korea. You can buy a 20 pack case for less than $1/bottle there. You can get alcohol poisoning for less than $10.
